Do I need equipment to obtain the service?

The customer is only required to have Internet access in order to access the application.

 
What is VoIP?

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a voice conversion map over the Internet or any other IP network. Voice data is managed over a switched network of general-use packets, instead of a dedicated network.

Es de los primeros en desarrollo y tiene limitaciones en desarrollo y a gran escala.  SIP- (Session Initiation Protocol) es un protocolo cliente servidor, maneja el establecimiento de sesiones que pueden ser voz, multimedios, etc.



 
What is IBS Phone?
The “IBS Phone” service provides an integrated solution by interphasing with the IP (VoIP) wireline network, all through the transfer of packets. The convergence significantly reduces managment and operational costs. The PRTLD “IBS Phone” service allows business customers to eliminate the need to invest in a multiline system since the digital VoIP switch will provide the basic characteristics and functionality that this type of system would offer.

What is PRT Ethernet?
Ethernet Virtual Link Service is a new Puerto Rico Telephone service that offers a complete transport solution, switching and access to the network through Internet Protocol (IP).

•    Those that require solutions based on the IP network.

 
What is the client profile?
Customers who require flexible high- speed access and data transmissions in real time.

What is the access like?
Access to the service is offered through a dedicated broadband connection, where a connection is made from the customer’s buildings to PRT’s switch at the central office. This interface is known as the “User to Network Interface” (UNI).
 
How is the interconnection made?

The interconnection of service to the customer’s buildings is made through fiber optics facilities connected to a NID that simultaneously connects  to PRT’s Ethernet network.

 
What is NID?
NID is defined as a “Network Interface Device,” it is an interface device provided by PRT to be installed in each one of the customer’s facilities.

It will provide termination of the line and will standardize the use of interconnection devices of the customer’s LAN.

This is based on the IEEE 802.3 standard at 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps o 1Gps.
